I’m busy moving today and setting up the place tomorrow, so things around here might get quiet for a day or two. The best part (for me) about this move is the fact that my office will now have a real live door. Yes, I’m very excited! Here is some inspiration i’m using for my new office. Enjoy!
P.S. My May e-newsletter goes out tomorrow! If you want to receive this one, sign up on the sidebar or use this link.
P.P.S. If you’re also interested in being the first to hear about my upcoming e-courses and workshops, go ahead an sign up here.
This weekend I’ll be attending the Business with Intention Workshop. A workshop created and run by Jess Constable from Makeunder My Life. Thankfully she’s also in Chicago, so when I first heard about the workshop I knew right away that I needed to go.
Sometimes, when you’re running your own business, it’s hard to step back and see what needs to be improved. Through this workshop, I’m hoping to learn how to delegate better, and place priorities correctly. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Enjoy your weekend!
Just wanted to remind everyone that May’s newsletter will be going out on Tuesday, May 1st. If you want to sign up, there is a form on the sidebar or you can visit this link.
Here is a little rundown of what I talk about.
I concentrate my main article on a piece of the puzzle that will help you build your own brand. In March, I talked about telling your story and in April, I talked about determining your core values. In May, we will be talking about the next step in building your brand. Even if you already have a brand, these articles may help you step back and reevaluate pieces of your business that don’t quite have it right, yet. But, that’s what I’m here to do, help you create a solid brand for your creative business.
In upcoming newsletters, we will be discussing how to choose a name, how to prepare for a new logo design, how to make sure your packaging communicates your brand and much more!
For others who read my blog, I’ve created a ‘Newsletter Archive‘ category so that you can read past newsletters and access them more easily than digging back through your inbox. I hope this is a lot easier, and may help some of you decide to sign up!
Again, no pressure, but if you want to receive May’s newsletter, sign up here by Monday, April 30th or fill out the form on the sidebar!
I just finished up a new brand and blog design for House of Earnest over the weekend. I have to tell you guys… I’m a bit sad that this one is finished, because I had so much fun working on it and I think it turned out better than we both expected!
Below are the before and afters of the blog and logo design. I hope you’ll agree that this project was a total transformation!
House of Earnest has been live for over a year now, and within that year, the blog has grown tremendously because of Erin’s amazing DIYs and Home Decor posts. She has really been knocking it out of the park lately, and I’m sure anyone that has read her blog would agree with me! It’s definitely a must-read. So, her content was amazing, but her design was not showcasing any of it. It was actually distracting from the amazing posts that she was publishing. Not good.
The design was not pulled together, and didn’t show the classy feminine side that Erin loved. Since she was just starting out, doing it herself was probably a good idea, but since the blog has grown so quickly, it was definitely time to step up the design.
I started the process by sending Erin a Q&A to help determine the exact look she was going for. I was so excited when we started gathering inspiration, because I knew immediately that this design was going to be right up my alley.
In order for the reader to know exactly what House of Earnest is all about, we made her three most important categories (Home Decor, Hand Made and Party Style) the navigation on the top.
Each of these categories has a custom archive header.
We also customized a Favorite Projects plugin for the sidebar so that reader’s can easily find her most popular DIY projects.
The blog also has an advertising integration plugin that allows clients to easily change out advertisers.

Happy Monday! I have another inspiration board to share with everyone!
So, do you love this inspiration board as much as I do? I’m obsessed with it, and good for me, the client is, too! The colors of the palette are so calm and soothing, it’s bound to be a relaxing project. Plus, she already has a great design aesthetic.
I can’t wait to share more. Stay tuned!
How have I not heard of this shop before? I was catching up on blogs last night and happened to stumble across Oh, Hello Friend, who apparently runs three online shops. Can you say, go-getter?
All of her shops are amazingly beautiful. My all-time favorite is The Wanderlust shop. I’ve already added three items to my cart, some things for my office and for my clients. I can’t wait to get them in the mail!
